Once upon a time, hungry revelers in Southeast England sought to quench their appetites after downing the evening’s last pint by patronizing outside street vendors serving up steamed mussels, cockles and other tasty shellfish. In the late 20th century, one clever public house in London’s East End coined the term Gastro Pub and added simple but deliciously prepared fresh local fare to his offerings, and a culinary revolution was born.
